I sometimes see people analytics presentations where the presenter seems rushed. They rarely pause, and when they do, it's not for very long.
As both an audience member and presenter, I find pauses to be really helpful. The audience may need time to digest the results and think about what the implications are for their work. It may take them a minute to figure out how to ask the question they have, or to feel they have room to speak.
As the presenter the silence can seem awkward, especially over VC when there are fewer nonverbal communication signals. But you actually need to wait even longer on VC if there is any lag between callers.
I've found that leaving some blank space has helped me learn far more from my stakeholders. It's also one more reason to try to keep your presentations shorter, so you don't feel so rushed!
