Logging off at the end of the day
It's understood By every single person Who'd be elsewhere if they could
Today’s post isn’t really specific to people analytics. It’s more focused on turning off my work brain at the end of the day, and helping me get started more quickly the next day.
At the end of each work day I look at
the things I didn’t get done today that are still important
my calendar for the next day
my backlog list of things that aren’t urgent
and from those, I write a list for the next day. It’s usually slightly longer than what I can actually get done in a day, so sometimes it’s 2-3 big items and sometimes it’s 8 smaller ones. Once I’ve written them down, it’s much easier for me to move on to dinner, or talking to my kids, or whatever else I have going on after work.
Plus then, the next morning, I already know what I should be doing first once I get started. Not that I don’t ever get distracted by an email, or an ESPN article, but anything that makes choosing my next task easier is helpful for me.
